About MIR Lab

Established in 2019 as a research lab, the Machine Intelligence and Resilience Laboratory (MIR Lab) at the Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar, aspires to develop novel technologies and methodologies that harness the power of network science, machine learning, data sciences, non-linear dynamics, and process-based understanding to enhance the resilience of infrastructure lifelines, including transportation, water, wastewater networks, and power distribution systems, susceptible to various hazards. Interdisciplinary domains such as the impact of weather and climate extremes on networked infrastructure systems, vulnerability assessment of built and natural systems to disparate hazards, and physics-guided machine learning for hydrometeorological processes are our focal areas.

Since its inception, the MIR Lab has been associated with various translational research projects, including a network science-based decision support system for post-COVID-19 recovery in the city of Ahmedabad, India, revising the State Action Plan on Climate Change for the state of Gujarat, and conducting training programs for mid-level officers to institutionalize capacities on Climate Change Studies and Action in collaboration with GIZ, GmbH, and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India.
